ABOUT ME

Passionate About Inspiring Children

As a special needs tutor I want to empower and work collaboratively with children, parents and teachers using a strength based approach to tap a child's potential. I am open to consult individuals, schools and child development centres to build and enhance their practice further.

I'm Deepika Aggarwal and I have over 18 years of experience in the field of special needs. I work with children with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities , cerebral palsy, Autism and emotional and behaviour difficulties. I've done my Masters of Education in Special and Inclusive Education, Bachelors of Education in Special Education (multi-category - learning disabilities, intellectual disability and cerebral palsy) and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with Honours.

I have built a wide range of teaching and administrative tool kit and have served as an education consultant and special needs educator in mainstream schools both in Sydney and Mumbai; as a founding member of a special school (Gateway School of Mumbai), and also as a Cambridge Examinations officer.

I have extensive experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, developing curriculums, setting up academic and administrative policies, recruiting and mentoring teachers, assessing children and recommending relevant adjustments for them.

I also specialise in a range of international evidence-based literacy and numeracy programmes. I believe in using movement to teach as it helps to internalise concepts while making the learning process joyful. For this purpose I have completed 'Extra Lessons' - a holistic approach based on Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy combining movement, speech, rhythm and painting.

I also believe that parents are one of the most important stakeholders in a child’s life. I conduct Parent Empowerment workshops to create awareness on child development areas and to share strategies for behaviour management and effective teaching learning tools.
